 The idea for GroupGain was conceived back in 2003, as the founder was frustrated with commerce- and auction- based websites. Chief among the problems were: 

1. Never knowing who is behind the deal. It has been documented that many times the merchant/seller is “pumping” up the price by competing against him/her self using a different account or joining forces with a friend. This phenomena is known as Bid Shilling
2. The amount of time and effort involved in researching a product and bidding against other buyers just to find out that the product was lost to someone else at the last moment. Sometimes the “snapping” of a product at the last moment is known as “Bid Sniping” and is mostly done automatically by commercial software, enabling the buyer not to be next to his computer
3. Being alone in the deal. Ever wondered if you received the best price after winning a product on an auction site?

   GroupGain’s founder started pondering if he would be willing to wait a longer time for a product if he could aggregate friends and family and join forces with them in order to buy in bulk.  

A few years and many lines of code later, not to mention a constant lack of sleep and making sure we listen to our customers, we are proud to present GroupGain.com. What makes GroupGain so unique is that, unlike traditional e-commerce/auctions sites, Buyers collaborate in order to reduce a product’s price instead of bidding against anonymous shoppers while the price only increases. Also, GroupGain builds communities around products and possesses built-in tools that empower shoppers to exchange information and collaborate with one another.  

GroupGain also developed a revolutionary concept that empowers shoppers for the first time with the ability to control/drive price.  We call it BUYER POWER™.  What BuyerPower™ does is to let you, the Buyer, form a group around a product that you didn’t find in your search efforts.  Then the Sellers can bid for your business, and the price can only go down!

Our next generation website release will contain more unique ways of shopping that incorporate gaming theories and more addictive entertainment value.
